After coming from Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw and Prague, we were starting to get over the whole busy touristy city vibes. So when we arrived to the cute small town of Cesky Krumlov we LOVED IT! There are still some tourists, but they usually come on day tours from Prague and Vienna, so if you wake up at a decent time in the morning and cruise around in the afternoon you will pretty much have the town to yourself! We found from 10:30am to about 4:30pm was the time it was the busiest, and in summer I’m sure the place would be packed during the day but the time of year we went (autumn) was perfect! Czech republic is such a cheap country to visit, eat and explore so why do day trip, when you can spend a few nights here!
I’ll be honest and say there isn’t a whole lot to do but it’s perfect if you are wanting a few days out of a busy city (1-2 days is enough). We found an awesome vego restaurant with a cool view of the river and churches that we ate lunch at both days called “Laibon’ (highly recommend, staff are so lovely!). We also walked to see the Castle’s gardens, took some awesome photos of the town from the Cesky Krumlov castle, the church of St. Vitus also provides good views and we strolled around the small town finding the best places for hot chocolates to warm us up! The town is pretty quite at night, although there may be a bar or two (not 100% sure though). But what we loved doing the most, was just walking through all of the side streets taking photos of all the lovely houses.
We stayed at Hostel Postel, which was really homely and cosy which cost us about 12 euro each a night. They have a fully equipped kitchen, which was awesome to make all of our meals in. There is also a small supermarket near by which is handy and very cheap (we stocked up on a bit of food here before going to Austria). We spent hardly any money at all in the 2 days we were here and in Czech Republic in general which makes it a great for the budget traveller.
Now after seeing the busy city of Prague and the quite town of Cesky Krumlov it makes me eager to explore more of the country I originally wasn’t too interested in. This is the perfect place to unwind for a few days! Just a short post but..
